But first a bit more about the university and then I will delve into its scholarships.
It is one of the most beautiful universities in Canada with stone structures and arched cathedral-stained glass windows. Situated on the Thames River, in London, Ontario, Western is one of the largest universities in Ontario offering over 400 majors, minors and specializations at the undergraduate level. With all that variety, there is bound to be a program for you.
And if you are an international student, there is bound to be a scholarship for you too, especially if you are a student with top-notch marks.
Kinds of International Student Scholarships
Merit-based Scholarships – Incoming international high school students with admission averages between 90% to 100% can be considered for a merit-based entrance scholarship worth up to $8000 CAD. The largest portion of the scholarship is allotted in the first year with a smaller amount usable for a study abroad experience.
Application-based Scholarships
Western has more than one application-based scholarship.
Western International Admission Scholarships are worth up to $25,000 CAD and are distributed over 4 years if the student maintains a competent GPA. In the 1st year, an international student recipient will receive $10,000 of the scholarship.
National Scholars Program offers 2 different scholarships for international students. One is the $80,000 CAD, the Neen Hodgins President's International Entrance Scholarship with $20,000 payable each year. The other one is the International President's Entrance Scholarships at $50,000 CAD payable over 4 years. Students must remain full-time and maintain a competent GPA to continue receiving this award.
The deadline for these admission-based scholarships is mid-February so you will need to apply for admission well in advance to avail these prestigious scholarships.
Continuing Scholarships - Western University also has in-course or continuing scholarships that international students may also be eligible for.
